Dressing Selector: Which Dressing Should I Use?
⚠️ Dressings are the supporting act — first make sure etiologic treatment is in place (diabetic foot offloading, venous compression, arterial revascularization, pressure redistribution). This tool outputs category-level suggestions; brand examples are for recognition only, not a ranking of quality.
Eight-rule mnemonic (see Dressings & Wet Gauze): Dry: rehydrate · Wet: absorb · Dirty: debride · Odor: control bioburden · Deep: pack loosely · Painful: non-adherent · Protect periwound skin · Ischemic: assess perfusion first. Selection order: first rule out critical ischemia and infection → exudate level → depth/dead space → pain, bleeding & periwound skin → change frequency and follow-up.
